6 Events We’re Excited For This Spring in Crested Butte

The sun shines a little brighter in our corner of the Rockies. Spend a few days here and you’ll feel just a lucky as we do:

6. Spring Break

Plenty of bluebird days are in the forecast for March (and a few deep powder days). It’s the time of year when many of our southern friends travel north, making town one heck of a party. It’s bubblin’ with energy, it’s beautiful outside, and there is so much to do during Spring Break. Be sure to #crestedbutte with all of your SB2K17 adventures!

5. Chopwood & Mountain Standard Launch Party

One of the coolest new outdoor apparel startup companies, Mountain Standard, is launching their line in Chopwood Mercantile (only one of two places in CO you can buy their gear from a store). To celebrate, Chopwood Mercantile is hosting a launch party on March 17th from 5-7pm, with plenty of great gear, *cheer*, and local coffee. If you purchase a Mountain Standard product, they’ll throw in a free trucker hat with it!

4. Entertainment

Live music, art, film … there are no lack of options this time of year. Leftover Salmon is playing at this years SkiTown Breakdown on March 18th for FREE at Crested Butte Mountain Resort!

3. Ski, Bike, Paddle

There is a little race called the CB3P here at the end of April. This multi-sport, endurance race spans the length of the Gunnison Valley, starting in Mt. Crested Butte and finishing in Gunnison, CO. Ski, bike, and kayak all in the same day by yourself or split it up on a team. Plenty of beers and cheers to follow.

2. Going Green

Not only do we have a low carbon footprint, spring means a change from white snow to budding trees and plants. The landscape is eager to show off its color after a long winter hibernation. Aspen trees turn neon green for just a few brief days if you’re lucky enough to see them.

1. Feeling The Love

Ask any local to list a few things that make this place special, and inevitably you’ll hear community, people, or friends. Crested Butte has attracted those who yearn for an active, outdoor lifestyle, an appreciation of mountains and nature, and a love of small town living. We all know there’s a little bit of luck to end up in such a special place.
