Feeling a bit more ambitious? Hike up to the summit of Mt. Crested Butte for a birds eye view of the town and valley. The trout fishing in Gunnison county is some of the best found in world with cold, clear water flowing from the high mountains.

Winter and Spring activities feature snow sports such as nordic, backcountry, and alpine skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Crested Butte Mountain Resort offers amazing trails for all skill levels including world class extreme terrain. It’s no wonder Crested Butte has been called Colorado’s last great ski town.

You’ll want the best equipment for your budget to truly take advantage of all of these recreational opportunities and many local shops can get you equipped. Keep in mind you’re at or over 9,000 feet above sea level for many of these activities. There isn’t much humidity up here and the sun is especially strong. Be sure to stay hydrated and don’t forget the sunblock!
