Don’t Miss These 5 Crested Butte Events This Winter

Winter in Crested Butte is less a time of year, and more of a celebration of chilly temps, the fluffy white stuff, and the renowned “après-ski” lifestyle. Most people come for a visit during the winter months to ski or snowboard at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, but that’s just a small slice of what this valley offers in terms of recreation and fun.

New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade

There is something special about ringing in New Year’s Eve in the Butte.  The cozy venues, snow covered paradise, and joyous mood around town make this a memorable evening. This party is huge! The skiers (holding torches) and fireworks can be seen from nearly anywhere in the vicinity, but feel free to check out the party going on at Butte 66 (the BEST view). Starting around 5:30 CBMR will have live music and drink specials all night long!

Fat Bike World Championships

The annual Fat Bike World Championships is Colorado’s most remarkable winter event. Participants can choose from multiple courses for riders of every level, a demo day, group rides, free beer (for 21+) and live music. The 2020 festivities are held January 24th thru the 26th.

CB Nordic Yurt Dinners

These dining events lasts all season long! You will snowshoe or cross country ski under starry skies over an easy 1-mile groomed track to a cozy yurt tucked away in the woods. Here an all-inclusive 5 course meal, drinks, and a roaring fire await. Listen to live tunes, enjoy the culinary creations, and sip on wine, beer or a specialty cocktail from Montanya Distillery. It’s a night you and your loved ones won’t soon forget.

Colorado Crafted

Colorado Crafted is the best après scene of the year! After hitting the slopes at CBMR (optional), enjoy the best breweries, wineries, distilleries and local fare Colorado has to offer! Held on Saturday, February 1st from 2-6 pm in Mt. Crested Butte, with great live music to boot.

Alley Loop

The Alley Loop is not your typical cross-country ski event. The course starts, finishes, and passes through the heart of downtown Crested Butte winding around on snow covered streets, narrow alleys, and one lane bridges. At any given time, you may be cheered on by an alley party, find yourself surrounded by oompa loompas, or skiing past a train of people connected by a crazy costume. Race for place or just get dressed up for fun on February 1st, 2020. Registration and more info here!

Bonus: Live Music

The brand new Center for the Arts brings in nationally recognized artists, and has a killer lineup of music this winter season. Make your trip to Crested Butte that much better by packing in outdoor adventure and live music–you can’t go wrong!
