Crested Butte based Floodgate Operators know a thing or two about getting the party started. Founded in 2018, the band has grown from a dive bar bluegrass act into a force of original music and showmanship that has earned praise throughout the Rocky Mountain West.
They have released three records, Drought Driven Days (2020), Flood the World (2022), and After the Flood (2025), each building on the collaborative nature of the band. The latest highlights their growth in storytelling and songwriting, from Montana Drive-by, a fast paced number about an unfortunate bear mace incident on the road, to I Saw the Bird First (Not You), an eight minute jam epic that closes the record.
