4th of July Celebration
Independence Day in Crested Butte is one of the biggest events of the year and certainly draws the biggest crowds. The town puts on one of the best celebrations in the country and with perfect mountain summer weather, you won’t want to miss it.
A day filled with festivities: Expect funky, fun and good-natured laughter as people line Crested Butte’s Elk Avenue at least four deep to take in the spectacle of the July 4th parade, which begins at 11 a.m. Stick around downtown for live music, a food court, face painting and old-fashioned games. Then head up to Mt. Crested Butte for live music and more action.
7-10 AM – Pancake Breakfast at the Crested Butte Fire & EMS Department
8 AM – The Gothic to Crested Butte 1/3rd Marathon starts in Gothic and ends right on 3rd street and Elk Avenue! Cheer on the racers on the Rec Path or between 1st and 3rd street on Elk Ave!
10 AM–2 PM – Food court, face painting and more at 3rd and Elk Ave
11 AM – Fourth of July Parade!
12 PM – Gothic to Crested Butte Marathon Awards! See the awards on the stage at 3rd and Elk Avenue!
12:15-2:30 PM – Live music at 3rd and Elk Ave (TBA)
7:30-9:15 PM – Live music at the Red Lady stage in Mt CB (TBA)
9:30 PM – Mt Crested Butte fireworks show!

Travel & Bus Info
Mountain Express will be changing their bus services on Thursday, July 4th due to the holiday events, please see below:
- Due to Elk Avenue closures, the Mountain Express bus will not access the following stops: Old Town Hall, The Nordic Center, and Whiterock Avenue at 3rd and 4th Streets. The Town Shuttle will stop at Teocalli, The 4-Way Stop, Whiterock and 5th Street (on demand, as usual), and 6th and Belleview
- Due to the Gothic 1/3rd Marathon, the Gothic Bus will not operate the 8:30am round trip from the 4 way to Gothic/Judd Falls
- The Express Bus will not operate on the 4th
