From Crested Butte take Whiterock Ave West out of town. Follow the road for 2 miles before coming to a parking area. This parking lot receives a lot of traffic so consider starting your ride from town.
This out and back trail starts from the parking area on the groomed track on the left hand side near a ton of parked snowmobiles. This trail is a designated motorized corridor, is groomed by the Gunnison County Snotrackers, and sees heavy use from recreational snowmobilers, snowmobile tours, and Irwin guides snow cat. Follow the road up as it gradually climbs into the mountains. There are a few drainages you can ride up as well like Splains (mile 3), Lake Irwin (mile 4), and Ohio Pass (mile 5). If you're looking for a longer ride head over Kebler pass and decent towards Lost Lake (mile 5). Sometimes the trail is groomed all the way to Erikson Springs (mile 20!) This is an out and back trail so however for you ride, you have to turn around and ride that distance back to the TH.
