Directions

From Crested Butte head north on Gothic road for 13 miles to the top of Schofield Pass. Take a left onto road 734. After 2 miles switchback up and take the first right to a parking area. This road is rough and an SUV with high clearance is recommended. For an alternative route take Slate River Road up to Paradise Divide but beware it is a narrow high clearance 4x4 road with steep cliffs.

Route

Starting at the parking area on Paradise Divide head north on a steep dirt path [1] as it climbs up to a small bench [2]. Continue climbing up the hillside until you eventually find a switchback [3]. After the switchback climb up to a wide bench. For a very steep shorter climb head left from the bench and follow the ridge to the summit. Head right from the bench and gain the opposing ridge [4] where a mellower climb awaits. follow the opposing ridge up to the summit. Enjoy 360 degree views from the summit [5] [6] [7].
