Panorama House exterior against golden aspens at dusk, above the Town of Crested Butte

Trappers Crossing · Crested Butte, Colorado

Panorama House

A log home just above town, reimagined around 270 degrees of valley, from Red Lady to Mt. Crested Butte.

5,700 sq ft Renovation Completed 2022

The house had the views and the bones. Freestyle gave it a proper entry, opened up the inside, and built the outdoor rooms the setting deserved. Now it takes full advantage of the sunny months, which in Crested Butte you learn not to waste.

The pool, the patio, and the peaks

The heated infinity edge runs toward the valley. The range handles the rest.

Grand Timber Entry

A new log timber porch builds on the original structure, announcing the front door and keeping the weather off your shoulders.

Light-Filled Living Room

Reimagined as an airy gallery for a curated art collection, with sightlines that run straight through to the back porch.

Terraced Outdoor Rooms

A heated flagstone patio steps the full length of the house: lounging, cooking, dining, hot tub, and an infinity-edge pool.

The site is the whole point. From just above the Town of Crested Butte, the house looks across 270 degrees of valley, from Red Lady around to Mt. Crested Butte, and the renovation is organized around never losing that view. The living room was opened into a light-filled, airy space that frames the mountains straight through to the new timbered back porch, where a large stone fireplace turns the northern view into a place you actually sit in the evening. Every move points the house at the mountains.

Outside, the house was designed for entertaining. A multi-level heated flagstone patio runs the full length of the home, terraced into zones for lounging, outdoor cooking, dining, and soaking in the hot tub or the heated infinity-edge pool. A remodeled mudroom and a new exterior door keep the pool traffic moving, with a home for towels and sunscreen along the way.

A second phase, underway in 2025, pushes the indoor-outdoor idea further: an expanded primary bedroom with a seating area and better corner windows, larger living room glazing and doors for light and patio access, widened openings through the dining and seating areas, and a former office converted to a bar with a sliding window for patio service. That last detail tends to decide where the party ends up.
