Spend National Public Lands Day restoring a wet meadow with High Country Conservation Advocates, in partnership with the Upper Gunnison River Water Conservancy District, Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, and the Bureau of Land Management. Volunteers build Zeedyk rock structures along Antelope Creek that slow and spread the flow of water, minimize erosion, raise the water table, and support the plants and insects that wildlife depend on.
Saturday, September 26. Carpool leaves the Four-Way in Crested Butte at 8 AM, or meet at the project site at 9 AM. Work wraps around 3:30 PM. Directions: CO-135 north to CR 730 (Ohio Creek Road) to CR 818. Do not take CR 17; it dead-ends.
Free. Bring water, gloves, and layers, and register on the HCCA site so they can plan for you.
