Dress for Success: 2017 Al Johnson Memorial Race

The Al Johnson Telemark Memorial Race is an annual race highlighting the incredible life of Al Johnson, a mail carrier in the 1800s that traveled between various mountain towns delivering mail. The area between Crystal to Crested Butte is known to be some of the most treacherous winter terrain in the Gunnison valley, and Al Johnson would strap on skis and make the trek with heavy mail bags. This race takes costumed skiers up 600 vertical feet and back down 1200 vertical feet, all on telemark skis.
