Trek for Life
September 16, 2023
The 5th Annual Trek for Life is a memorial hike to celebrate the lives of those no longer with us and to raise awareness about mental health issues in the community—that help is available for those who are struggling. The choice by someone to take their life is a very personal and one with many varied reasons — social, economic, emotional, substance abuse, and physical to name a few — underlying causes we’re working to address.
The Hike
This is an extraordinary hike that begins at Maroon Lake (8,755’) in Snowmass, Colorado, goes up the West Maroon Trail thru the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness, past Crater Lake, and to the top of West Maroon Pass (12,645′). Once at the pass you proceed down the other side to the Schofield Park Trailhead (10,448′) near the town of Gothic just outside of Crested Butte, Colorado.
This 12-mile day hike is considered one of the most desirable hikes in the U.S. and is timed to coincide with the dry weather and beauty of the turning Aspen trees. We hope you will get out and hike to celebrate life and remember those who are struggling or are no longer with us. Help us raise awareness — there is help.
