Fall's Kickoff in the Mountains

Twenty-eight years running, this is the Saturday we all love: aspens starting to gold up, the first real chill in the morning air, and festivities to match the mood. Your ticket covers a souvenir tasting cup, dozens of chilis, regional pours, and live music from midday until the gates close. Doors are 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with VIP entry an hour early.

28th Annual Chili and Beer Festival, September 12, 2026, Mt. Crested Butte, Colorado Town of Mt. Crested Butte
Dozens of Chilis
Red, green, veggie, and the occasional dare. Taste your way through all of them.
Countless Craft Pours
Beer, cider, and seltzer from regional makers, poured straight into your souvenir cup.
Live Music
Two bands on the Red Lady Stage, from half past noon to the last pour of the day.
Sept at 9,375 Feet
Crisp mountain afternoons and big views, staged at the foot of the ski hill.
Headliner · On at 2:45 PM
Floyd Bauler & The Riverland Band

A true-blue troubadour singing real songs for real, good people. Floyd Bauler's songs are true stories: his dog, his friends, his family, and his wild adventures since he left to join the traveling circus. Expect the Red Lady Stage to feel a little smaller by the second set.

Opening Set · On at 12:30 PM
Slate River Sisters performing
Slate River Sisters

Meg and Molly, a Crested Butte duo built on rich, dynamic harmonies. They trade off guitar and mandolin through folk and Americana, from fresh takes on songs everyone knows to the odd obscure Swedish gem.

FAQ

How do tickets work?
Buy ahead right on this page. Tickets land in your email with a QR code, show it on your phone at the gate. No printing, no will-call line.
Will my ticket work if service is spotty?
Save it before you leave the house. Add the ticket to Apple Wallet from your confirmation email, or screenshot the QR code. A few thousand people sharing one cell tower is a poor moment to discover your inbox will not load.
Where is it?
Crested Butte Mountain Resort base area, Red Lady Stage, 12 Snowmass Road, Mt. Crested Butte. You will hear it before you see it.
Parking and getting there
There are a couple of free lots at the base area, and they fill early. The Mountain Express bus from town is the better play, since nobody should be driving home from a beer festival: check the Crested Butte bus schedule. For a private ride anywhere in the valley, Black Canyon Limo takes online reservations and fits parties up to 13.
What should I bring?
A valid ID for alcohol packages, layers (it is September at 9,000 feet), sunscreen, and an empty stomach. Your tasting cup is provided.
Rain or shine?
Rain or shine. September in the mountains has opinions that change by the hour, so pack a layer and a rain shell. The chili holds up better than your hairstyle.
Are kids welcome?
Yes. Kid Chili-Only tickets cover ages 6 to 16, and kids 5 and under are free. Alcohol packages are 21 and up with ID.
Where does the money go?
The festival is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the CB/Mt. CB Chamber of Commerce. Ticket sales help keep the visitor centers in Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte open and support the Chamber's work across the valley.
Can I bring my dog?
No dogs at this one. Leave them at home or with a sitter, and they will forgive you by Sunday.
