SUMMARY:Live at the Center: Garret LeBeau
DESCRIPTION:Live in the Steddy Theater! Award-winning blues musician Garrett Lebeau is a member of the Shoshone tribe\, born and raised on the Wind River Indian Reservation near Lander\, Wyoming. His music draws instant comparisons to Boz Scaggs\, Al Green or Van Morrison vocally with a sound that is completely and genuinely his own. \nLeBeau’s soul style certainly captures the groove\, all right\, with a gritty funk vibe and vocals that might draw comparisons to Boz Scaggs (with whom he’s toured) or even Ray LaMontagne\, but it also digs deep\, examining the dichotomies of his childhood experiences\, the scars inflicted by his indoctrination into what he considers a cult\, and the salvation he’s found through music. On his new EP\, he addresses his history head on\, as well as the ongoing struggles of Native Americans and our common desire for love and happiness. \n \nTickets & Info \n

SUMMARY:Live Concert: Anders Osborne + Jackie Greene
DESCRIPTION:Tickets: $35 – $45 \nShow 8pm // Doors 7:30pm \nNot too long-ago\, Anders Osborne and Jackie Greene were booked to do a few solo acoustic shows together. One thought\, and the other agreed\, that the shows would be a helluva lot more fun if they joined together and did them “in the round.” For two friends that are gifted as both singer-songwriters and guitarists—impromptu “jamming” is second nature. \nBut for these shows\, they’ve ditched their bands for some stripped down acoustic performances\, each taking a turn with one of their songs\, while the other provides accompaniment. It was a great experience for each of them and audience alike and Jackie and Anders are excited to continue this sit-down evening of old fashioned tune trading. \n*Please note that for events at the Center\, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test from within the last 72 hours are required for entry \nClick Here for Tickets

SUMMARY:Live Concert: Joanna Connor
DESCRIPTION:Tickets: $25 – $75 \nShow 8pm // Doors 7pm \n“Music chose me. I vividly recall trying to sing like Louis Armstrong’s ‘Hello Dolly’ in our Brooklyn apartment. It came on the radio often. I knew I was small\, but when I researched what year this version was on the charts\, I was floored with the realization that I was two years old!” And so\, Joanna Connor’s musical odyssey began. The soundtrack of her childhood in her adopted hometown of Worcester\, Massachusetts was diverse and bounteous. The Blues was part of the lexicon. Joanna’s favorite record as a child was Taj Mahal’s “Take A Giant Step/ The Old Folks At Home”. \nSeeing Buddy Guy perform at a local university at the age of 10 left a paramount impression. Playing saxophone\, guitar and singing through her school years were her passions\, and eventually led to her performing professionally at age 17. But her hunger to become a guitarist first and foremost and her desire to immerse herself in the Blues\, propelled her to move to Chicago in 1984. \n“It was my university. I went out every night of the week. Within a month I had my first gig with the legendary Johnny Littlejohn. A few weeks later I became a part of Dion Payton and the 43rd St Bluesband. We were the house band at the Checkerboard Lounge\, on the south side of Chicago\, then owned by Buddy Guy. That’s when my schooling kicked into overdrive. I played with Buddy\, Junior Wells\, Otis Rush\, Sammy Lawhorn\, Pinetop Perkins\, Hubert Sumlin\, Magic Slim\, Son Seals\, Lonnie Brooks\, Koko Taylor\, just to name a few. I was blessed.” \nJoanna went on to form her own band in 1988 with weekly appearances at the Kingston Mines in Chicago. Her formidable guitar playing\, and distinctive soul-churning vocal ability caught the attention of Blind Pig Records\, who released her debut album “Believe It” in 1990. National and International accolades in the press and radio media resulted into a decade of world tours\, a dozen recordings on Ruf Records\, MC Records and others\, a documentary on Germany’s WDR Television\, and a multitude of TV appearances and radio features. \nJoanna and band shared stages with Blues\, Rock and Jazz greats\, including Luther Allison\, BB King\, Screaming Jay Hawkins\, Robben Ford\, Danny Gatton\, Robert Cray\, Jimmy Page\, ZZ Top\, Joe Cocker\, Etta James\, and others. Joanna signed endorsement deals with Gibson Guitars\, Victoria Amps and Orange Amps. \n*Please note that for events at the Center\, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test from within the last 72 hours are required for entry \nClick Here for Tickets\n

SUMMARY:Live Concert: Keller Williams
DESCRIPTION:Tickets: $35 – $45 \nShow 8pm // Doors 7pm \nVirginian\, Keller Williams\, released his first album in 1994\, FREEK\, and has since given each of his albums a single syllable title: BUZZ\, SPUN\, BREATHE\, LOOP\, LAUGH\, HOME\, DANCE\, STAGE\, GRASS\, DREAM\, TWELVE\, LIVE\, ODD\, THIEF\, KIDS\, BASS\, PICK\, FUNK\, VAPE\, SYNC\, RAW\, SANS\, ADD\, SPEED and CELL. Each title serves as a concise summation of the concept guiding each project. Keller’s albums reflect his pursuit to create music that sounds like nothing else. Un-beholden to conventionalism\, he seamlessly crosses genre boundaries. The end product is music that encompasses rock\, jazz\, funk and bluegrass\, and always keeps the audience on their feet. \nKeller built his reputation initially on his engaging live performances\, no two of which are ever alike. For most of his career he has performed solo. His stage shows are rooted around Keller singing his compositions and choice cover songs\, while accompanying himself on acoustic guitar\, bass\, guitar synthesizer and drum samples; a technique called live phrase sampling or “looping”. The end result often leans toward a hybrid of alternative folk and groovy electronica\, a genre Keller jokingly calls “acoustic dance music” or ADM.” Keller’s constant evolution has led to numerous band projects as well; Keller & The Keels\, Grateful Grass\, KWahtro\, Keller and the Travelin’ McCourys\, Grateful Gospel and More Than A Little to name a few. Keller can be found playing clubs and festivals around the U.S. with these projects throughout the year. \n*Please note that for events at the Center\, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test from within the last 72 hours are required for entry \nClick Here for Tickets

SUMMARY:Film Series: The Sleeping Negro
DESCRIPTION:Doors 6:30 // Show 7pm \nWINNER!\n* FIPRESCI Award\, International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg 2022\, Germany\n* VISIONARY AWARD \, Cinequest 2022 \nConfronted with a series of racially charged incidents\, a young black man must overcome rage\, alienation\, and hopelessness in order to find his own humanity. \nThe young black man\, simply identified as “Man\,” must resolve the personal meaning of his blackness when his white boss orders him to commit fraud to benefit the corporation. Struggling with an overwhelming sense of shame for going through with the illegal demand\, Man seeks consolation by discussing his unease with a black former friend and his white fiancé. Those conversations lead only to further confusion and frustrations… \nFollowing on the footstep of the LA Rebellion filmmakers\, Skinner Myers tells a very personal and intimate Black story in a radically non-traditional cinematic style as a means to express freely his feelings as a Black man in America. \n*Please note that for events at the Center\, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test from within the last 72 hours are required for entry \nClick Here for Tickets\n

SUMMARY:Live Concert: Leftover Salmon
DESCRIPTION:Tickets: $40 – $75 \nShow 8pm // Doors 7pm \nForward-thinking\, progressive bluegrass pioneers of the modern jamband scene\, and original architects of Jamgrass\, Leftover Salmon now serve as legendary statesmen casting a larger-than-life influence over those that follow. Constantly changing and inspiring they effortlessly glide from a bluegrass number born on the front porch\, to the down-and-dirty Cajun swamps with a stop on Bourbon Street in New Orleans\, to the hallowed halls of the Ryman in Nashville\, before firing one up in the mountains of Colorado. \nIt all began in 1989\, when they had the guts to add drums to the bluegrass mix\, additionally stirring highly combustible styles into their ever-evolving and unique sound. Since that time they’ve set the bar for breaking boundaries by combining traditional rules of bluegrass with nontraditional instrumentation\, pushing songs in psychedelic directions\, and producing one of the most energizing shows on the circuit. \nThey show no signs of slowing down coming off the release of their most recent album\, Something Higher (2018)\, one of their finest\, and a new book – Leftover Salmon: Thirty Years of Festival! celebrating their paramount accomplishments. Leftover Salmon is founding members Drew Emmitt (mandolin) and Vince Herman (guitar) with Andy Thorn (banjo)\, Greg Garrison (bass)\, Alwyn Robinson (drums)\, Erik Deutsch (keyboards). \n\n\n*Please note that for events at the Center\, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test from within the last 72 hours are required for entry\nClick Here for Tickets
