DESCRIPTION:Tickets: $25 – $75 \nShow 8pm // Doors 7pm \n“Music chose me. I vividly recall trying to sing like Louis Armstrong’s ‘Hello Dolly’ in our Brooklyn apartment. It came on the radio often. I knew I was small\, but when I researched what year this version was on the charts\, I was floored with the realization that I was two years old!” And so\, Joanna Connor’s musical odyssey began. The soundtrack of her childhood in her adopted hometown of Worcester\, Massachusetts was diverse and bounteous. The Blues was part of the lexicon. Joanna’s favorite record as a child was Taj Mahal’s “Take A Giant Step/ The Old Folks At Home”. \nSeeing Buddy Guy perform at a local university at the age of 10 left a paramount impression. Playing saxophone\, guitar and singing through her school years were her passions\, and eventually led to her performing professionally at age 17. But her hunger to become a guitarist first and foremost and her desire to immerse herself in the Blues\, propelled her to move to Chicago in 1984. \n“It was my university. I went out every night of the week. Within a month I had my first gig with the legendary Johnny Littlejohn. A few weeks later I became a part of Dion Payton and the 43rd St Bluesband. We were the house band at the Checkerboard Lounge\, on the south side of Chicago\, then owned by Buddy Guy. That’s when my schooling kicked into overdrive. I played with Buddy\, Junior Wells\, Otis Rush\, Sammy Lawhorn\, Pinetop Perkins\, Hubert Sumlin\, Magic Slim\, Son Seals\, Lonnie Brooks\, Koko Taylor\, just to name a few. I was blessed.” \nJoanna went on to form her own band in 1988 with weekly appearances at the Kingston Mines in Chicago.  Her formidable guitar playing\, and distinctive soul-churning vocal ability caught the attention of Blind Pig Records\, who released her debut album “Believe It” in 1990. National and International accolades in the press and radio media resulted into a decade of world tours\, a dozen recordings on Ruf Records\, MC Records and others\, a documentary on Germany’s WDR Television\, and a multitude of TV appearances and radio features. \nJoanna and band shared stages with Blues\, Rock and Jazz greats\, including Luther Allison\, BB King\, Screaming Jay Hawkins\, Robben Ford\, Danny Gatton\, Robert Cray\, Jimmy Page\, ZZ Top\, Joe Cocker\, Etta James\, and others. DESCRIPTION:Tickets: $35 – $45 \nShow 8pm // Doors 7pm \nVirginian\, Keller Williams\, released his first album in 1994\, FREEK\, and has since given each of his albums a single syllable title: BUZZ\, SPUN\, BREATHE\, LOOP\, LAUGH\, HOME\, DANCE\, STAGE\, GRASS\, DREAM\, TWELVE\, LIVE\, ODD\, THIEF\, KIDS\, BASS\, PICK\, FUNK\, VAPE\, SYNC\, RAW\, SANS\, ADD\, SPEED and CELL. Each title serves as a concise summation of the concept guiding each project. Keller’s albums reflect his pursuit to create music that sounds like nothing else. Un-beholden to conventionalism\, he seamlessly crosses genre boundaries. The end product is music that encompasses rock\, jazz\, funk and bluegrass\, and always keeps the audience on their feet. \nKeller built his reputation initially on his engaging live performances\, no two of which are ever alike. For most of his career he has performed solo. His stage shows are rooted around Keller singing his compositions and choice cover songs\, while accompanying himself on acoustic guitar\, bass\, guitar synthesizer and drum samples; a technique called live phrase sampling or “looping”.  The end result often leans toward a hybrid of alternative folk and groovy electronica\, a genre Keller jokingly calls “acoustic dance music” or ADM.” Keller’s constant evolution has led to numerous band projects as well; Keller & The Keels\, Grateful Grass\, KWahtro\, Keller and the Travelin’ McCourys\, Grateful Gospel and More Than A Little to name a few. DESCRIPTION:intro to acting – adult \n04 | 02 @ 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm \nIntro to Acting with Heather Hughes – High School\n \nHave you ever wondered about acting?  Come try it out in this super fun and energetic acting workshop!  Using improv/theatre games and activities\, we’ll practice acting skills that help build confidence\, encourage bravery\, and hopefully make you laugh A LOT!  NO experience necessary.  All you need are comfortable clothes that you can move in\, shoes that stay on your feet\, and a readiness to play! \nClasses limited to 20 students to allow for social distancing in the Center’s Steddy Theater. Masks required at all times.\nScholarships are available.  Email Melissa Mason at melissa@crestedbuttearts.org. \nHeather is a professional actor\, director\, and teaching artist. She has worked for many years at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts\, Buntport Theatre and The Denver Art Museum as well as two seasons as the live narrator of the Tiny Tots’ Inside The Orchestra series in Denver.  In NYC\, Heather was a Teaching Artist with New Victory Theatre and ENACT\, and is a proud company member of Trusty Sidekick Theatre Company. Heather teaches acting classes for all ages at the Gunnison Arts Center\, The Weehawken Center for the Arts in Ridgway\, online for The Denver Center for the Performing Arts\, and is a guest director at Western Colorado University. Heather has appeared as an actor at The Denver Center\, Lonetree Arts Center\, and Miners Alley Playhouse\, among others. Her voice can be heard on numerous radio spots\, and her face can be seen in several currently running television commercials. She holds a BA in Communications/Theatre from Western Colorado University.
