Crested Butte Bike Week
June 22 - June 25
Where else do you find the oldest mountain bike festival in the world, but right here in Crested Butte, Colorado. After all, this is birthplace of the sport and another opportunity to showcase our legendary trails and scenery. Not a mountain biker? All good! This family friendly celebration welcomes riders of every level with all types of bikes.

Thursday June 22
Do you want to learn from some of the top cyclists in the area? This is your opportunity, wether you are a beginner, or just trying to improve certain skills like climbing, descending or those technical features that have been giving you headaches for years now. If you are racing the fat tire 40, this is your opportunity to pre ride some of the course and get sound advice form the racers that finish up front.
Amateur Film Fest
Have you made a mountain bike film in the Gunnison Valley? Maybe you know of someone that does, or maybe you want to put something together to showcase to your peers. The Amateur Film Fest contests will present locals or visitors to showcase their short film, while the crowd decides who get the cash prize. Teams of three must shoot the entire film in the Gunnison Valley, and it must be 4 to 8 minutes in length.
Friday June 23
Chainless Race and Afterparty
One of the most entertaining bike races anywhere, Crested Butte’s Chainless World Championship Bike Race starts from the top of Kebler Pass at 4:20pm and goes down 7 miles of dirt and pavement on anything with two (or three) wheels…just no pedaling allowed! The Pass is closed to vehicles for the Chainless with bus and bike transport provided. Spectators gather at the west end of Elk Ave to catch some of the creative costumes participants will be wearing. .
Spectators and racers alike are welcome to join for one of the best parties of the year at the parking lot at 1st and Elk. Here you can sip on drinks as you watch your friends come bombing down Elk avenue. Festivities start at 4:30, this is not something to be missed.
Saturday June 24
Fat Tire 40
This 40 mile mountain bike course will give you a tour of the Butte with some epic single track trails. You’ll race around Mt. Crested Butte via Upper Loop, Strand Hill, Deer Creek trail and others enroute to the 40 mile mark. Race categories are as follows: Open/Pro Men and Women, ages 10 to 25, 26 to 40 and 40+. Rec Men and Women, ages 10 to 25, 26 to 40 and 40+.
Bridges of the Butte
This family friendly one-of-a-kind 24-hour bike tour loops through downtown Crested Butte, meandering across the town’s bridges. Proceeds from the event go to help fund the Adaptive Sports Center. Sign up solo and brave the bike seat for all 24 hours (if you dare), or put together a team of your friends and tour the town in shifts as day turns to night. Tune up your townie bicycle and find a fabulous costume, because this is one townie takeover you don’t want to miss. For more info head over to the registration page.
Sunday June 26
Crested Butte Junior Wildflower Classic XC Race
Jr Crested Butte Wildflower Classic for the little ones! Divisions range based on age group, with varying mileage and difficulty. This is a great way to get the kiddo involved, from under 6 years old with strider bikes, to under 18 with a 12 mile course.
