Center for the Arts: Lizzy Plotkin

March 7 @ 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Fiddler and singer-songwriter Lizzy Plotkin seamlessly sews a rich heritage of music – from Appalachian fiddles and banjos, to the groove of old jazz, blues and swing – into a folk fabric all her own. Nashville born and raised, woven throughout Lizzy’s music is a deep love for the high-mountain landscape of the Gunnison Valley of Colorado she now calls home, her place-based songwriting exuding a reverence for the natural world tempered with a humble, yet wise human perspective. Her voice is a gentle call to the present, her fiddling as exuberant as it is graceful. Lizzy’s debut solo album, Home Stone, is dedicated to this landscape and the people supporting her musician’s journey. These original songs, finding their root in the heart, vary from nostalgic country waltzes and bouncy old-time fiddle tunes to soulful blues hollers. Lizzy founded and toured with the harmony-driven female folk trio Free the Honey, reaching #1 on the Folk DJ Charts with their album Fine Bloom, and has additionally played with the likes of the Drew Emmit Band and Trout Steak Revival. Lizzy is joined by a distinguished quartet of Colorado Roots musicians.
