Center for the Arts: Ghost Light

March 28, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm

The improvisational wizards of Ghost Light play a shimmering psychedelic rock, leading the cutting edge as the newest up and coming in the jamband scene. The fledgling supergroup based out of Philly exudes a special chemistry with ethereal innovations, spacey sonic waves and ecstatic jams. Live shows mix originals with featured songs from the Grateful Dead to Radiohead that replicate the spirit and expand the art. Their 2018 inaugural tour kicked off with a sold-out show and subsequent concerts at powerhouse venues such as the Lockn’ Festival and High Sierra. Holly Bowling and Tom Hamilton are the brewing masterminds behind the group, Holly known for transcribing virtuoso piano solos from the music of Phish and the Grateful Dead. Rolling Stone named her “Ten New Artists You Need to Know Right Now” in 2016. Tom made a name for himself as the guitarist of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, while also appearing in Bill Kreutzmann’s Billy & the Kids. Individual members have played with Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Steve Kimock, Dave Schools, Marco Benevento, Warren Haynes and more. Ghost Light is pianist Holly Bowling, guitarist Tom Hamilton (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, American Babies), guitarist Raina Mullen (American Babies), bassist Steve Lyons (Nicos Gun), and drummer Scotty Zwang (Dopapod / RAQ).
