Crested Butte Chili and Beer Festival held at the base of the Crested Butte Mountain Resort.  Sample locally made chilis\, sip some of Colorado’s finest craft beer\, and enjoy some great tunes from Grammy winning artist Bronwyn Keith Hynes\, plus opening act by Pickpockets.  \nThe 27th Annual Mt. Crested Butte Chili & Beer Festival is a celebration of locally made Chili and Colorado brewed beer that draws both locals and visitors to the base area for a music\, chili\, and beer-filled afternoon. The event is located at the Base Area of Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Locals are welcome to enter chili into the competition along with participating restaurants. Participants will be asked to vote on their favorite Beer and Chili. We expect this event to sell out this year as it has in years past. We will have up to 12 categories\, each receiving a cash prize based on participant votes. \n  \n \n  \n \n  \n \n\nTransportation\nThere are numerous FREE transportation options so please refrain from drinking and driving. \nRTA: The final RTA bus running from Mt. Crested Butte to Gunnison\, with a stop at the Cement Creek Road\, leaves at 11:25 p.m. from Mt. DESCRIPTION:What is Trek for Life?\nTrek for Life is a memorial hike held during Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month to celebrate the lives of those no longer with us. We work to raise awareness and address the stigma associated with mental and behavioral health issues\, raise funds that provide mental health services for those who are un(der)insured\, and fight the high rate of suicide in the community. \nWe’re spreading the word that ‘You Don’t Have to Walk Alone’ because help is available for those who are struggling. \nI will be celebrating the life of my son Kyle by hiking the West Maroon Trail — a hike he did the at same time in September of 2018 to coincide with the beautiful fall weather and changing colors of the Aspen trees. \nThe choice by someone to take their life is a very personal one with many varied reasons — social\, economic\, emotional\, medical\, substance abuse\, and physical to name a few — underlying causes we’re working to address. \n  \nRegistration &  Info \nThe Hike\nThis is an extraordinary ‘bucket list’ hike that begins at the Schofield Park Trailhead (10\,448′)\, just past the town of Gothic about 11 miles outside of Crested Butte. The West Maroon Trail heads up the gorgeous Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness valley among the Indian Paint Brush\, Lupin\, and wildflowers to the top of West Maroon Pass (12\,465′)\, about 4 miles. Once at the pass\, you descend another 7 miles thru tundra\, willow and pine forests\, crossing streams and rocky scree before arriving at Crater Lake. For the final leg we pass through Aspen and pine lining the trail as Maroon Lake (9\,580’) opens up before yu at the Maroon-Snowmass Trailhead in Snowmass\, Colorado. \nThis 11-mile day hike is considered one of the most desirable hikes in the U.S. and is timed to coincide with the dry weather and beauty of the turning Aspen trees. This year we’ll also be doing the hike back over East Maroon Pass on Sunday. \n

DESCRIPTION:COURSE\n10 mile Map & Info or 19 mile Map & Info\nBoth courses start and finish at Camp 4 Coffee in Crested Butte South. \nRunners proceed out Cement Creek Road\, along the lower Cement Creek Trail\, climb the new Middle Cement Creek & 406 Warm Springs Trails\, descend the Walrod Gulch Road and climb the 418 Walrod Gulch Cutoff Trail to the 409 Caves Trail Intersection. \nThe 10 mile course turns down the 409 Caves Trail and returns to Camp 4 Coffee along the Cement Creek Road. \nThe 19 mile course continues climbing up the 409 and Point Look Out Trails to the 405 Double Top Trail\, traverses across 405.2A\, descends the 412 Walrod Gulch Trail and then returns to Camp 4 Coffee via the 406 Warm Springs\, Middle Cement & Lower Cement Creek Trails and Cement Creek Road. \nThis run is predominantly on single track trail with some dirt road and a small length of paved road. The trails range from smooth dirt to rocky. The courses will be marked with directional arrows and ribbon. \nThis run is fully self-supported. No on-course water or food will be provided.
