Being Thankful for Crested Butte
It’s the season of giving thanks and in Crested Butte we have so much to be thankful for. Take a step outside and soak in the encompassing mountain views. Smile at the kids running around town like it’s their playground. Breathe in the cool, clean, and refreshing air. All of these things aren’t even possible for most people. Life has its challenges, so we wanted to take a moment, reflect, and be grateful for many of this valley’s magnificent attractions.
The Mountains
Whetstone, Gothic, Red Lady, Purple, Teocalli, Whiterock, Crested Butte … and dozens more. The mountains are our ever-present neighbors, beckoning us to stand on their shoulders and peaks, or even to just admire them from afar.
Outdoor Recreation
Recreation has created a living for a lucky few, a lifestyle for most, and a reason to stay. There aren’t many places with this many premier recreational opportunities:
- Ski up, ski down, ski flats, ski bumps
- Fat bike, mountain bike, road bike, townie
- Horseback, dogsled, paraglide, kayak
- Snowshoe, snowboard, snowmobile, snow angel
- Hike, camp, golf, hunt, fish, run
Elk Avenue
Home to festivals and parades, Big Air and small businesses, Elk Ave is a unique blend of old west architecture and modern dining. There are few better ways to clear your mind on a stressful day than to take a stroll up and down its sidewalks.
Local Businesses
They create a friendly atmosphere, jobs and wages for locals, a more connected community, and so much more. Crested Butte is a special place that revolves entirely around independently owned businesses in stark contrast to corporate America.
Healthy Lifestyles

Crested Butte make us healthier. Most activities are focused around getting up and going. Gunnison county ranked #1 and #4 for average life expectancy in the US for men and women respectively. We know living here means living longer and better lives.
The Views
Whether walking downtown, biking the 401, or skiing the high country, we’ve got views in every direction.
The Seasons
Each one drastically different from the last: Summer’s sweet wildflowers, fall’s golden colors, winter’s deep powder, and spring’s neon greens. The seasons bring new scenery, new activities, and new guests to our town.
Each Other
We’re thankful for our friends, family, pets, coworkers, community members, visitors, the passing dude who says “hi”, and the server responding to our requests. Being a Crested Buttian is a special thing, and we’re thankful for this place and the people that embrace it.
